I have one of these, it has the 4710MQ i7 I believe.

I would like to upgrade its video card to 980m, is it possible?

I checked the power supply brick and it is 230W. I believe that's enough?

Would I be able to just buy one of these and remove the old 970m and replace with this one?

And do you think there is any demand for my 970m? It works fine, but I want to use Oculus Rift

You should be alright to upgrade to the 980m. Typically upgrades within the same generation aren't a big deal, so it should be pull, plug and play upgrade. As for the 970m's demand, there's probably a fair bit from ppl looking to upgrade from the previous generations.

Thank you for your reply. I truly appreciate this. Is the 970m compatible with the previous generations? It uses mxm right? How do I know if its mxm2 or mxm3?

    Suppose it's MXM 3.0b

Is there any indication? Or do I have to take it apart, would it say if its mxm on the surface of my GPU?

No, it won't advertise it. Typically, if it is not a BGA/surface mounted GPU, a 900M series is going to be MXM 3.0b. I am doubtful about compatibility with that Alienware upgrade kit you linked, though (more so due to firmware, not the interface).
