I believe the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro has a nice IPS panel, by Samsung. Although Samsung calls it PLS.

The GT72 DominatorPro-445 has an IPS panel. I believe it has a matte finish, also.

GT80 also has a PLS panel, and it rocks.

All GT72 with i7-4720HQ hast the WideView IPS Display. The GS70 has only an TN Panel.

@Meaker are you sure that the GE72 have also the IPS Panel ? My LineUp List from MSI say "only" Anti-Glare FullHD.

I`ve recently brought a MSi GT70 2QD 2449UK, does that mean my screen is also an IPS Panel, because all it says Anti-Glare FullHD as-well and I have tried to find out what it is as-well.

I'm trying to figure out how more of the newer 17" can have an IPS panel - especially the GT80, but another high end GS70 has a crappy TN panel.

Yes, I know it's a bettter quality TN panel than most, but it's still a TN. :p

The gt80 is 18.4 inch so pulls from a different pool of displays.

Right, but the discussion earlier was that there wasn't a reliable supply of 17" IPS panels, so that GS70 got the short end of the stick. Considering how many 17" laptops there are out there vs. 18" monsters, I'm surprised that MSI can get a more stable supply of 18" IPS panels than 17".

That is, unless the 18" product is such a niche product they only make a relative handful of them compared to 15" and 17" laptops.

There is little that I like more on my notebook than the 3K IPS panel. The next notebook I choose will definitely have another IPS panel in it, that is one thing that I will not go back to - a notebook with a crappy screen LOL

Are you tempted to go to a 970m or 980m with that 3k screen?

Yes I am - a lot. I am on the wall about what to do - upgrade this notebook to a 980m or get a new notebook. I wish the decision was much easier for me

With you all set up as you are and being able to sell your old one the 970m I think offers a lot of value as an upgrade. The 980m is harder to justify perhaps over a new machine with it but is very fast.

Yes, there might be a lot more 17.3" laptops, but the 18.4" panels choices are probably influenced by the fact that they are probably targeted at both 1080p IPS all in ones and dual gpu laptops, both products that would either be more concerned with panel quality (especially AIOs) or targeted at high end where cost is less of an objection (18.4 laptops)

Right off the bat, the 18/18.4 inch screens that jump out to me are the MSI GT80, Alienware 18, Asus Tranformer 18 hybrid computer/tablet and XPS 18 tablet computer, all good targets for an 18 or 18.4 IPS 1080p panel.

The dragon editions are usually pretty low run units but you can get the 4xx models with the IPS screens still.

That's not the model to have IPS screen, it's best to consult with your vendor or local MSI office for more information.
