    Hey guys,

    I know we've all been going back and forth about this issue, but I have official word from xotic pc, by both email and phone.

    So MSI no longer puts the warranty sticker on the bottom over the screw hole. They no longer put it at all. So what that leads to obviously, is the ability for us consumers to open it and upgrade RAM and clean out dust at will. Also, that means that now, according to xoticpc, they can offer the thermal compound upgrade.

    I forgot to ask about CPU upgrades, so if anyone can add to this post, we all will greatly appreciate it.

    Hopefully this clears up any confusion, and woohoo we can upgrade and clean for dust woohoo :)

    Quick warranty break-down: (yes = no warranty void/ no = voids warranty)
    Upgrade RAM yourself - yes
    Upgrade HDD/SSD yourself - yes
    Upgrade CPU yourself - no
    Upgrade GPU yourself - no
    Upgrade Thermal compound yourself - no
    Upgrade Wireless card yourself - not sure

    From MSI's website:

    To upgrade the memory or harddrive the warranty seal has to be broken, this however will not void the warranty as the user is allowed by the european law to upgrade his memory and harddrive.

    Note that MSI does not give any warranty for your purchased RAM/HDD, nor does it give warranty for any problem resulting from your added RAM.

    If by any means you encounter a problem with your laptop weeks or months later, try to remove the added memory to see if the problem is fixed.

    So there you go , europe is safe :D

    The GX640 doesn't come with a warranty seal on the bottom like older model MSIs had

    With MSI - Upgrade any component you like, although the replaced part is not covered, msi inspect the unit before hand. (Get email permission too.)

    With Re-seller - Email, find out what their policy is so you dont find yourself stuffed when something goes wrong.

    MSI = WIIIIIIIIIN!

    ADVENT = ALSO SHARE THE SAME POLICY AS MSI - WIIIIIIIIIN

    MEDION = UNKNOWN :( FAAAAAIL.
