    I'm interested in the MSI GE40, but don't really like the looks of the MSI "Dragon Eyes" version... I see that Maingear appears to be using the GE40 for their Pulse 14 and their lid is alot better looking, but a similar configuration on their site seems to cost substantially more. Is there another reseller/customer pc maker that is using the GE40, but with their own design?

    The MSI 1492 is the GE40 barebones that Maingear uses. There's a bunch of other resellers that use the same model. XoticPC has them for around $1150 iirc and you could probably find more through Google.

    The pics on XocticPC make it look like the same version MSI is selling. You can get it skinned, but not exactly the same thing.

    Very interesting laptop and good to know it has barbone version which available without dragon eyes. Although keep the MSI brand name would be a good point too.

    So this is a 14" laptop and equipped with all the goods;
    -HD+ Matte Screen,
    -37 or 47W Haswell + Geforce 760M graphics,
    -2 mSata connector + 9mm HDD space,
    -wifi, bluetooth, USB 3.0 ports,
    -backlit keyboard ???,
    -affordable price,
    -thinner and lighter than typical gaming laptops.

    But how thin is this exactly? In the user manual I read 26,4mm other site 22,3mm and 3rd place 30mm.

    Not sure on the dimensions, but it seems it does not have an illuminated keyboard.
