Hello all,
Making the switch from Macbooks to Windows. Need something with a powerful GPU for video editing. Macbooks with a GTX1070 or better are too expensive. Also, I absolutely hate the fact I will never be able to upgrade my ram or storage. Also, the lack of ports is horrible to me. I think if Apple doesn't start making devices like the MSI GS65 then they are in trouble for the long term.
I have been researching for a week or two now. I have found the MSI GS65 to be a top choice for my needs. Also, I think it looks stunning and professional. (My runner up is the Zephyrus GM501, but I really don't like the design.)
Can anyone here recommend this laptop to me? I would really like to invest in this laptop knowing it will be a strong reliable machine for my professional life in media; Music and Video Production. If there are any common issues or problems with these beautiful machines; I would also like to hear about them. I'm technical and don't mind having to tinker with them a reasonable amount.
The only thing that would make me not want to buy this laptop is if too many people report it being a terrible device.
I appreciate any input!

Personally, the latest and newest GS65 seem like outstanding products in general. Despite the thin and light profile, it seems cooling has become competent enough. The design is slight and professional. And I think your needs will be more than covered with this machine.
I always bring this up regarding the Gs65, but it's about the numeric pad, or lack of it. The slimmer profile made the GS65 lack a numpad, so if that feature is important to you make sure you either get an external USB one, or perhaps consider the new big brother, the GS75.
I believe the general feeling of these new GS65 machines has been positives, as MSI has had a bit of time to improve the GS63 series into what it is today.
Feel free to check out the MSI GS65 Owners thread, and most likely we will have a new thread for the newest RTX version that will be released soon. Most people help with common issues like thermal throttling/temps by undervolting or repasting if needed, all for the sake of extracting the most performance out of their machines.
It seems your poll might be a bit skewed negatively though. Remember there are different needs and no one machine is good for all scenarios. In your case, at least comparing to Macbooks, I do believe the GS65 is way better.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.
