I am currently picking a laptop for college. I do a lot of gaming and like to use the highest settings, but I know I can't do that for college because I need battery life for class. So, I have some questions for you guys:

    1) How loud is the GX640? I would reduce the GPU clocks to 100/100 when I'm not plugged in. Would it be loud at those clocks, considering the reduced heat?

    2) How long would the battery last at the 100/100 clocks doing just web browsing and word processing? I would buy the 9-cell 7800mAh battery.

    3) Is it a laptop that would be easy to carry around between classes?

    4) This will probably be a hard question. I've heard the LCD on the GX640 is poor. Can it be replaced with another 1650 x 1050 LCD? I know how to replace an LCD, but I don't know if they all fit (same screw holes, etc).

    5) Would you recommend the barebones version of it (MS-1656-ID1) with the HD 5850?

    1) It's not loud.

    2) The GX640 comes with a 9 cell battery already; 3 hours max is my estimate.

    3) Depends on your idea of "easy to carry around". Compared to other gaming notebooks, yeah. Compared to 13 inch laptops and netbooks, hell no.

    4) The LCD is not poor.

    5) Depends on where you're buying it from and if you want upgrades. The HD 5850 is the stock card, so what else do you want?
