Hey everyone,
I received a MSI GE70-OND-033US yesterday in the mail. I downloaded windows 7 in a breeze, but the Driver CD that they sent me doesn't work. When I click install, It doesn't do anything but emit a small beep. I can't download any drivers without internet, and apparently I need the drivers or a network adapter to access the internet.
My laptop also does not pick up any wireless networks, even though there are 3 in my area, and I even tried using an Ethernet cable. Nothing works. Please help.

You'll probably need to use another computer to download at least the Ethernet controller driver, and/or the wireless adapter driver to a USB drive or burn them to a disc. From there, Windows updates should cover some of your drivers, and the rest you can get either on the manufacturer's site, a Google search, or driver utilities (such as 3D chip or DriverPack Solution).
Actually, if you can get your hands on a DriverPack Solution CD, you may be able to get some of your drivers off that. 3D chip just scans your hardware and references it online - i.e., you need internet access for it to do it's job.
Alternatively, you could download the bulk of - or all of - the drivers you need, burn them to a disc, and then just run the appropriate wizards/installers after you insert the disc into your drive.
When you hear that small beep - are you getting any message or error code? -
I brought my laptop to my university's IT help desk, and they downloaded all the drivers for me. It was working perfectly fine at their desk, internet and everything. But as soon as I brought it back to my dorm, it didn't work anymore.
(When hear the beep, there are no messages or error codes.) -

Have you activated the WiFi by pressing the WiFi button just to the right of the Power Button on the Touch Control Bar?
It should light up.
Then the WiFi Networks in range should appear when the mouse cursor clicks on the wireless icon down by the clock.
Windows 7 requires a driver be installed for the wireless card that is installed under the Touch Bar.
Windows 8 has basic drivers preinstalled.
If it's the stock Intel wireless you'll need to download the Intel Wireless ProSet driver and install it for Windows 7.

If you have an optional upgrade Bigfoot Killer wireless card get the driver here.

Yes, those are what you are missing. As for the Unknown Device and the PCIe device, you can use an application known as "Unknown Devices" that will give you more detailed information, so you can reference that to download the driver.
Or try one of the driver utilities I mentioned above to see if they detect and refer you to the appropriate driver.
I find it odd that your IT desk was able to get online, even though it shows in your Device Manager that you don't have the driver for the Network Controller (or at least, it shows something is not right with it). -
I ordered this laptop from ProStar actually, and when I first booted it up. The default OS which was windows 8 worked perfectly fine. I could access the internet right away. But the moment I switched to windows 7, things took a turn for the worse.
And Yes, I find it absurd and very strange that it worked at the IT desk and not in my room. -

Where did you get your copy of Windows 7? And despite the beep you heard, when you insert the disc into the drive - does it show up in Computer? If so, you may be able to explore the contents on the disc and manually install whatever drivers you need from it using the Windows wizard (assuming that the drivers on the disc are compatible with Windows 7).
If you are still running into problems, don't hesitate to call the manufacturer/reseller you purchased the unit from! -
...Now I am stuck on the Aptio Setup Utility Page. I can't get past it.
When I ordered this laptop, I had it customized and I selected the option for my laptop to run on Windows 7 instead of 8. When I opened my Laptop box, a box with windows 7 was inside.
And another annoying thing. The IT help desk told me that the Driver disk that I received with my laptop was made for windows 8 only. -

Which wireless adapter did you opt in for when you customized the laptop?
