    Do I need to burn a recovery disk, or will the "recover os" option I see on bootup do the trick?

    If your using a recovery disk, its not called a clean install.

    Format and do a fresh install for that.

    Sorry, reinstall is what I meant. Does the recover os option on startup do that?

    if you do the recover os then it will bring your computer back to its original state like when you bought it new
