Both of the laptops have similar specifications as seen in links below, but I would like to know if the MSI has an expandable memory up to 16GB or if I would have to replace it with 2 seperate 8GB chips, if even possible. Also what are your opinions on the two laptops? FYI I will be using them for some schoolwork as well as games like World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls Online.

Based on the 2 laptops and prices you presented I would get the Asus. I'm assuming both cards are Maxwell chips and both should run nice and cool. But the 860m will obviously perform better.

Find out about the screen quality. I would also consider that into my decision making. Are they both TN? IPS?

The memory should be expandable on the MSI

Judging by what i've looked up both should be TN as I've normally seen indications of IPS on computers with them. I have heard that the IPS can be less desirable for gamers although I haven't experienced one myself. Any thoughts on if I had the option of IPS vs TN?

The GE60 uses an IPS display :)
