So I just received my MSI GT73VR Titan Pro which has a Chi Mei N173HHE-G32 screen supposedly with GSYNC
I checked in the nVIDIA Control Panel but there is no GSYNC option.
What gives?
I installed MSI's official 376.39 driver by the way
=====================================================
Edit:
Here's an image of this same model with GSYNC so people, don't be scared of buying this laptop, it does have GSYNC. My system i being replaced as it was an anomaly

Have you asked @Donald@HIDevolution about it yet? -

Hoping for other users to give some feedback
Here are my screen details:
-
This laptop and the screen definitely supports G-Sync. Have you checked both Vertical Sync and Monitor Technology under the Global Settings ?

Try using a driver other than what came from the OEM.

The V-Sync has a few options like managed by 3D App or on, or Fast, nothing of that has anything to do with getting GSYNCRynaus likes this. -
Then perhaps you just need a driver update or reinstallation of the drivers, but I'm sure you have already tried the latter.

I'll try now -
While reading through the MSI forums, I found this and some users stated that doing this brought back the GSync option in the Nvidia control panel. I don't know, may be give it a try :
1. Windows must be installed in Legacy Mode (settings in MSI BIOS).
2. Reboot and go to BIOS, change to UEFI. Save and reboot. Windows don't start.
3. Reboot and go to BIOS, change to UEFI with CSM. Save and reboot. Windows don't start.
3. Reboot and go to BIOS, change back to Legacy. Save and reboot. Windows start and G-Sync should be visible in NVidia panel

this laptop has Optimus but they don't run together at the same time so I don't think thats Optimus
I even tried the new driver 378.49 but no luck -

Is there something in the BIOS that allows you to switch between hybrid and discrete?
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
When in discrete mode, you don't even see the Intel HD Graphics as it's not there so it shouldn't activate Optimus and make GSYNC not work
I guess this screen has no GSYNC -

Just sent MSI a support ticket

Did you run the G-Sync test from NVIDIA to see if it is actually working?

Also note, that even though Secure Boot is enabled, when I enable the Fast Boot option in the Boot options and save, it reverts back to disabled after I reboot -
That's also the right GPU. Since, unlike the other user, you have KabyLake you may have to update your BIOS for g-sync license. Different CPU breaks g-sync license.
See if they have an update for your model. Also make sure to use the latest NVIDIA driver, since older ones won't have the required code either. -

I hope MSI responds to my ticket with a new BIOS then -
Don't you have a button that switches GPU? It's on the right hand side.
-
Sorry its the second one down.
-

I think it's as Prema said, since I have a Kaby Lake I may need a new BIOS update -
Oh, I would think it would have the correct BIOS with all the prep they did for you.
-
Maybe try installing the entire driver?

My 7RF had kaby lake and the same screen and I had GSYNC. I returned it to Newegg otherwise I'd take a screen shot.
I had to enable it in the nvidia control panel but the option was there.
Do you know if HID modified the image from stock or did a windows clean install?DukeCLR likes this. -

anything you can suggest?DukeCLR likes this. -
You can try checking under "manage 3D settings" in the nvidia control panel and make sure that "monitor technology" is set to gsync.
You could also check your windows monitor drivers. I'm using the Microsoft driver 10.0.14393.0
Another thing to try is use the MSI restore USB and set it back to the factory install. There's not much bloatware and it can all be removed by uninstalling.DukeCLR likes this. -

Do you remember if the MSI factory image was setup as UEFI and Secure Boot on?hmscott likes this. -
I always thought that was kinda weird, why would MSI not want to put their best configuration forward - the software / hardware work closely together, and why would MSI not want their tuned image to follow their hardware.
I think if you contact MSI - register your laptop through MSI here:
https://register.msi.com/home/login
You can get support through MSI as well, ask questions, get specific downloads (likely not the OS image), and even RMA - they might let you RMA the laptop to them to get the official OS image - if you are interested
Otherwise you can go to MSI support locally in Dubai, and take a 32GB flash drive with you, give them the puppy-dog eye's (tearing up a little), and ask kindly to run BurnRecovery on the same model laptop in their stock. Maybe they will be kind and restore to your boot drive the standard image / recovery partition, then you can run BurnRecovery yourself from your newly imaged boot drive / recovery partition.
AFAIK the boutique shops never get that image, all their laptops from MSI come blank.Last edited: Jan 29, 2017 -

Someone there will likely give you what you need before going 3 rounds with MSI supportSpartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
I'd word things such that you don't mention the shop, just go in cold as a new MSI owner, say you did a clean install and you don't have G-sync, what configuration changes do I need to make it work loading the OS from MS media.
Maybe you already did that, but figured I'd give you a heads up to save you time.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
