I'm very interested in the MSI GT70 equipped with either the 680M or 7970M and MSI's mSATA RAID card/thing.
I don't know if the 7970M is offered in the GT70 from any resellers, but if it is I assume it must be cheaper than the 680M, correct?
I am looking for who sells the cheapest GT70 with either of those highest end graphics card and MSI's mSATA RAID card. I can only find models starting at over $2000, but packed with things I don't want/need. I don't want to pay through the nose for 12GB of RAM stock or the 750GB HDD in the second bay. I would be willing to pay for the blu-ray drive, but only for a reader, definitely not the full blu-ray writer. So, my question is, can I find anywhere online an MSI GT70 with the following load out and almost nothing else:
-Intel i7 3610QM/Intel i7 3630QM
-Nvidia GTX 680M/AMD 7970M
-"Super"-RAID card (as cheap as possible, either empty or with 1 32/64GB card)
-Backlit SteelSeries Keyboard
_NO RAM
_NO MECHANICAL HDD

The problem you face is that the machine comes with those parts from the factory. A shop would have to remove and sell them individually to recoup costs. It ends up not saving money due to time.
Our powernotebooks machine gets free shipping to the 48 states, can get a 3% cash discount and comes with a 128gb single msata gen 3 card.
The gt series is optimus only so no 7970m versions. -
Ok thanks Meaker, I didn't know that. I wonder if there's a way to order a barebones from some place with just that RAID card, even empty.

No barebones has that module and they don't sell it by itself which is annoying. Give our sales team a mail as we should be able to try and sweeten the deal since you are an active member here.

Yeah Tyranids, I was in the same boat you are. I was trying to find the cheapest MSI I could with the 680M and Super RAID. Unfortunately non of the barebones come with the Super RAID only the MSI branded GT60's or 70's. So I bit the bullet and ordered one which was a little more expensive. Not the ideal situation but I know at least I'll be satisfied with my purchase.
Cheapest GT70 with 680M (7970M?) and "Super"-RAID
