Hi guys, im really struggling here. I want to install SCM on my laptop but it refuses to open and is not responding. I was told i needed framework 4.0 to install it and i did previously install it before installing the utility. I downloaded the utility SCM win 7 64 bit from the MSI official website I'm however battling to install and function it, i believe i require SCM on the laptop as it allows you controls and extra functionality from a single console like turning off bluetooth when i dont need it or enabling Webcam. Please can someone help me install it? my laptop is practically useless without that utility.

Which model is your laptop? Did you install dotnet 4.5 instead?
Also, did you download the correct SCM for dotnet 4.5 and for the correct OS?

Hi Kevin, thanks so much for your reply, means alot! Its a MSI GP60 2OD 049ZA. I have made sure i have installed 4 and 4.5 framwork, i even tried the add on to 4.5 (4.5.1) but no luck in installing the Win 7 64 bit SCM Utility onto my notebook

I made sure i installed the right OS SCM utility for my notebook which is Win 7 64 bit

Its so strange that Win 8 version installs and create a desktop shortcut but with Win 7 version its only found in my icons on the bottom right hand corner and also in my program files but it just doesnt want to execute successfully and is unresponsive.

I made sure i downloaded the MSI official GP60 drivers.

Please help me find out what is going on. I dont think its possible to ignore the SCM and exclude it from the notebook, it will just be incomplete.

Thanks again for your prompt reply back

There are two versions of SCM, so make sure you are getting the right one to your OS.

    Win8 SCM

    Win7 SCM

I made sure i installed the Win7 64 bit SCM but it refuses to install and open up the SCM console window. Is there a fix, like a specific Windows update that could help me? I have got these installed so far.

I know, but it does provide some functions needed by your hardware so perhaps that's why.
However, your system should be running pretty lean already and it doesn't hurt to keep SCM running for convenience reasons.
