    Thank you.

    And if I decide to upgrade from 675m to 680m, do I need a new heatsink and x bracket?

    Thanks in advance

    Until more experienced people get to answer, I think the HS is compatible without any modifications and MSI does not use brackets for gpus.

    Yeh, you can use the same exact heatsink.

    All I had to do was move around a few thermal pads.

    The msi systems have posts soldered in place so no xbracket is used.

    Thank you so much! You've just made my day! I ordered an 16F3 from xoticpc and it had 675m in it and they've told me you cannot upgrade the gpu. If only I had some experience with these thermal pads... I will try to learn how to do that before I go home in June, is there any tutorial/tips you guys can give me? Thank you so much again!

    MSI heatsinks use metal posts and a thin thermal pad to contact the GPU making upgrading harder if the shape is very different.

    675M -> 680M is fairly painless IIRC.

    When the new ones come out it is very likely you will need to dremel it a bit to fit it, part of the reason MSI does not officially support GPU upgrading (they just have not done anything yet to particularly stop it).

    I'm sorry, but what does dremel mean? :)

    A dremel is a multi purpose rotary cutting tool that has many attachments that can be fit, its one of the easiest ways to modify a metal heatsink, though it takes some skill to do a pretty job (something I seem to lack :p ).

    So you cannot just simply swap the cards and adjust the thermal pads? ( talking about 680m)

    From what I recall you can with the 680M from the 675M, but that may not be true in future with other cards.

    No, since these machines are designed for optimus and not enduro, the 7970M only works in the last gen pre-optimus models.
