    Hi guys!

Recently I just bought an MSI GT73VR 6RE from Amazon. I bought one from them because it was cheaper. I can't recall what ghz this was on stock when I got it but right now I'm at 3.96ghz and when I play games with CS GO my temps can go as high as 85 - 90? that's what the intel xtu records but usually it stays around 70 - 80. I don't mind if I have to reduce the cpu's power as long as I can still play my games and my temps low. I don't plan repasting this yet not until I have it for 3 or some mos. time. So, I guess my only choice is to undervolt it. How do you think I can undervolt this? I tried doing it but it keeps hanging even at -70 core voltage when I play my games.

That temp seems high so let me ask a few questions, Whats you ambient temp? Are you using a custom fan curve? Try a round with the cooler boost button pressed.

CS:GO is not all that intensive of a game. 90 Celsius is erring on too hot in general, getting close to thermal throttling.

Are you comfortable with checking the thermal compound? A repaste might help greatly.

Temperature will be the same at 90C nevertheless since GPU is being used to drive the game. If the system does not have efficient cooling which causes it to hit the 90C constantly then you will have gameplay issue. EC firmware caps the system at 90C by reducing power flow to the system therefore fps can spike. Please double check on the game settings as well as possibly doing a repasting.
