    Hey everyone...

I am having trouble installed my Intel 5300... can someone take a picture of the antennas in their MSI 1651... I don't know which connects to which. I tried installed the 1 wire to the 1, 2 to the 2, and 3 to the 3 and it ain't working.

Can someone take a picture of their installation with directions?

    Thanks guys!

The gray wire goes in the middle socket and the black one goes in the top left and the white one goes in the top right.

    There is no white wire......

There are three black wires, tagged 1, 2, 3.

There may be 1 taped by the vga card, install them on the 5300 card as marked. 1, 2, 3.

The other two grey wires are not for the wireless.

Also make sure the wireless card is in the slot closest to the outside edge of the chassis.

Also.....Make sure you have the wireless turned on with the touch sensor above the keyboard.

Which slot do you have it in? It should be in the slot towards the outside of the chassis. I never tried the other slot with the wifi, it may not be switched.

The 3rd antenna (also black) is usually taped down by the vga card with the two grey wires.

Should be in the first slot (all the way to the left)

Second slot is for the turbo memory

And BTW, the pic is not accurate, there is no third slot.

I cannot post links but if you go to our site in the notebook photos, 1651-wsxga you can see the wireless and the turbo mem installed in the correct slots.

That is how it is supposed to work, the wireless should not be on unless the wireless touch sensor is illuminated.

The wires should run under the heatsink exactly as you have them.

The wires should go under the card and behind the stud for the wireless card. There is a pic on our site (not that great) showing the wire routing. It on the 1651 wsxga photo page. If the screw still stands out it may be the wrong screw. there should have been a screw pre-installed in the wireless stud.

I don't mean to threadjack or anything but I was wondering which Intel 5300 card works with the MSI 1651 laptop? The pictures in this thread seem to be dead or else I probably wouldn't have to ask. I just purchased the laptop on eBay and was trying to find the correct Intel 5300 card but most of them specifically say: "Will not work with MSI laptops."

Not sure why they say that, if it is a true intel 5300 either flavor will work. there is the full height mini card and the half height mini card. The 1651 comes with the adapter so you can use the half mini card as well.
