Hi , I just bought another gtx680m from ebay for my alienware m17xr4. however when i installed it into my alienware, Its actually a dell quadro K5000M not gtx680m.

After running some test on geforce drivers and quadro drivers on my alienware the core clocks seems to be stuck at 324 @ full load.

I was thinking of switching the quadro card over to my msi gt60, will it work?

Hope some experts can guide me on this.

    Thank You.

Historically no, quadro cards have not been happy in msi machines but you can try and its unlikely to damage the machine.

Thanks Meaker. I guess i have no options left either to refund or exchange. This card is like usd 2.5k in ebay lol but its pretty much useless if i cant use it i guess.

Well, Meaker is right in that it won't damage your system (the card itself, anyway. Malpractice could). The most you can do is install it and see if it makes it past POST and loads the OS. If it does, then just test the driver. :)

Why did you buy a supposedly "680m" for 2.5k though?

I think he paid the going rate for a GTX680M, but ended up with a quadro 5000M instead which sell for 2500 ;)

hi guys. yeah i ordered a gtx680m and got this quadro instead. Anyway i flashed the quadro with a stock dell gtx680m. Took me some guts to do it lol

It worked, turbo boost working and optimus too. Its still listed as quadro in gpu -z though and in nvidia i have to mod it as quadro instead of gtx680m.

Currently installed 306.97 from nvidia and there is a lot of extra features or settings for quadro in the driver.

All i can say is yeah it does work lol.

Done a ungine test and got 1955 scores with the card turbo boost = 758.

Its like 100+ more points compared to my gt60. Maybe i am running on 3820qm vs 3610qm on my msi gt60.

The 3820qm is faster, but the boost will be making a difference.
