    I'm thinking of getting a faster cpu, I have a MT32 now, but I was wondering if I could use a ML-44?

I also see that the Turion X2 is on the way, will we be able to use these new cpus?

Neither is compatible. The MS-1029 only supports MT processors (and Semprons).

Hmm oddly though Ava direct offers ML processors but I agree with Unleaded I dont think they are compatible.

    Yeah, how bout that :)

Not compatible, don't even try it. Dual core Turions will use an entirely different socket so they will absolutely not work with the MS-1029.

Please don't put an ML series cpu in the 1029, even though it will fit, physically, you'll regret it.

You piqued my curiosity... what would be the result? Failure to boot, something catching fire, perhaps?

Never even experimented with it since MSI informed us from the initial release that the ML was not supported.

I've never had the desire to find out, but in all likelihood, a quick overheating would occur and/or motherboard death.

Ahh, the infamous letting out of the 'magic smoke'. That would indeed be bad. Never let the smoke out of any of my motherboards yet. My friends say it's quite fun... they like to overclock and have money to burn- literally.

    Thanks for the info.
