I got a Medion erazer x6811 earlier in the year. It is a great laptop however the fan noise has always bothered me. Even on low, there is a constant 'chirping' and 'whistling' from it.

I've opened the laptop up and checked the fan - no damage or anything. I put some silicon oil on it, but this didn't help.

So, i've decided to get a replacement fan but I cant find the official medion one. I can get the gx660r one though, and it looks exactly the same part. It is definetly the same manufacturer - T&T.

Do you guys think i could just use the gx660r one in it?

In addition, anyone with a gx660r can you comment on the fan noise? Does it also have this whistling/chirping noise even on low?

    thanks

As I know Medoin is based on 16F2 barebone. So you can use fan from GX660 with no problems.

thanks for taking the time to reply. i've contacted the reseller of the laptop to see if they would cover the cost, if not i'll just go ahead and order it myself.
