Dear people who sell things and hang around here,

Have I mentioned how awesome you guys are today? I mean, we get some excellent laptops from you all and what you lack in website design, you make up for in fair prices and a general air of "better than Dell/HP/Apple"ness. It is in that same spirit of awesome....itude that I make this simple request.

There is a new 1651 in town. I'm sure you've seen it, it's pretty cool. That red trim on the barebones, not to mention the quad-core support and 9800M support. Frankly, this thing is so cool it blows the skirts right off of girls in the area when it boots up. That's right, it can get you laid. I'm not saying that makes you pimps, just that your laptops are..... pimp...itude.

As you know, you sold a lot of the previous 1651 models. I'm one of those people who happily bought one, like, right before CES! What's especially cool about that is that they are almost exactly the same as the new ones! So much so that I bet you could literally change out some of the parts. Have you seen how much better that new keyboard is? Wouldn't it be awesome if I could buy one from you at a reasonable price and replace it with my own?

I think you can see where I'm going with this. It would be really cool if I could type without having to hit a really small shift key. Also, that 9800M is so much better than my 9600M. Wouldn't it be really cool if I had a mainboard that supported it?

Now, a lot of resellers like Dell/HP/Apple/etc would just say forget it and make people buy the whole new laptop. But dammit, not you guys, I know what you're thinking. We're on the same page already. You're thinking "Hey guys, while we're sitting here, being awesome and single-handedly fixing the economic crisis/curing cancer/bringing the 90's back to site design, we could totally help out those people who bought the old 1651 by SELLING SOME OF THE PARTS FROM THE NEW BAREBONES!"

I knew you'd come around. I'm looking forward to seeing it in your inventory!

    Doesn't MSI 1651=GX620=GT627?

I'm seeing people start to offer a 1651 with a WSXGA+ Glossy, which I assume is the new barebones.

The only change on the 1651-011 is the glossy screen, same features as the 1651-004.

Yeah, also the revised keyboard has a shrunken zero key on the numpad, which allows some keys to be full-sized now. Time to bother RK Computers again, I want that keyboard. :)

    The GT627 is a pre-configured msi model. The 1651 is a barebone.

Yeah, but the chassis looks exactly the same... it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to think there may be some interchangeable parts here. ie going to a 9800 with the 627 mainboard.

It might sound crazy, but a big draw of the 1651 is the matte display.

Hot , that really answers everyone's complaints about the keyboard.
RK needs to swap the the keyboards of any doa 627 units you send back to MSI and selling them to 620 owners :D

My understanding is the GT627 is still a MS-1651 but with a revised motherboard and new video card. I saw on this forum, I believe, where the MS-1651 barebones will be updated to the same specs as the GT627 while retaining the MS-1651 nomenclature.

^^^^ that i know but instead of doing it like 1651-001 or 004 they should have just called them 1652 or 1653 etc

well i think you have to say its(gt627) a upgrade of the gx620 because they're both pre-config models, and the 1651 is a barebone that is exactly like the gx620..that can be bought without the other components.

So, it doesn't look like I was able to coax anything out of the vendors... C'mon I know at least one of you guys wants to sell the upgraded keyboard.

And by the way, I didn't get one laugh out of that post? You guys are a tough crowd.

Im really liking the updated model, now if only a 1920x1200 screen was offered on a quad core customized model Id be planning on one for my tax refund. I can deal with 1680x1050 res, but Im waiting on quad core for my next laptop.
