I bought MSI-16F2 with the gpu of 570m. Now I want to put on 580m, but now the CPU will throttle. Others told me to use throttlestop or solder a wire on the motherboard to solve the problem.
I don't want to use throttlestop, so try to solder. But I don't know where to solder the wire. I found an image from the forum.

I did that, and the wire didn't touch the holes on the PCB board. But the CPU throttling problem is still even if I turn off the speedstep and turbo mode in the BIOS.

I use the 230w AC adapter. Someone told me that the position may not be correct, but he didn't know what is the correct position

Sorry to my poor English, but could you do me a favor? Could you tell me where to solder the wire?

I tested it in January last year solder the wire to MXM slot doesn't work, it still won't supply enough power to the MXM.

The MB for GTX570M and GTX580M are different not just the jumper wire.

Yes, I think the mother board supporting 580m may be quite different from 570m, not only the wire.

Correct but they both look identical except the jump wire.

The image you gave is about GT783, mine is GT683. They look same.
How about the 1761 with 580m you opened? Did it have throttling problem?

The CPU still throttled after I made the jump wire.
What should I do next? I refresh unlocked BIOS from Xonar already.

It's not throttling, it's the mainboard can not supply enough power to MXM even with jump wire or bigger power supply.

OK, It's the problem of the MB of 16f2, which can't be solved now. :(

Right. And thanks to Gentech for that insight. You need to remember that "throttling" occurs during heavy load/high temperatures. Also, I don't know why you would need to disable Turbo Boost (I'm guessing that's what you were referring to by "turbo mode in BIOS"). That's an inherent overclocking quality of the CPU - it's more or less the exact opposite of throttling.

Turbo Boost = CPU frequency clocks beyond base during heavy load
Throttle/Speed step = Chip reduces frequency during too much load/high heat accumulation.

You need to get the mainboard made for GTX580M version with jumper wire mod from the factory.

How about the motherboard MS-16F2 where chipset revision is 09 and southbridge revision B3?

It's not the chipset revision but the motherboard revision and the power components installed.
