As the title states, I'm interested in purchasing an MSI laptop. Actually, I've already bought it. I've seen gameplay videos, benchmark tests, and at this point I just want a cool keyboard ;)

However, it's not too late to cancel my order, and I just want some final opinions. Here are the specs:

    GTX 780M 4GB VRam
    12gb Ram
    i7-7400mq 2.4ghz (turbo to 3.4ghz)
    17.3" 1920x1080 display

    Here's a link: http://www.hidevolution.com/new-laptops/msi-gt70-2od-064us-i7-4gb-nvidia-gtx-780m-17-3.html

Right now I've got a third (maybe even second) Gen i7, 630m 1gb vram graphics card, and 8gb of RAM. Needless to say, this laptop is a huge step up. I'm just looking for some reassurance that I've made a good choice, or a final warning that I've made a terrible mistake. Thanks guys, and I apologize if I've posted in the wrong spot, I made an account specifically for this purpose and I'm not quite up and aware of the rules here.

    Thanks again,
    Ace.

(oh, side note. I ordered from HIDEVOLUTION, which I've heard good and bad things about. Please share your opinions on them as well. Right now my order status is "pre-production", anyone know what that means, or a length of time I should expect to wait? I paid the $50 for rushed building. Thanks again!)

Personally if you can afford a few hundred dollars more I would buy these laptops as they feature Maxwell GPUs that will not only perform signifcantly better, but also run much cooler. But if you can't afford a penny more, that laptop isn't a bad buy IMO.

    PROVANTAGE: MSI 9S7-16F442-1065 GT60 Dominator-1065 Geforce GTX970M -- GT60 with 970m

Really amazing deal for less than $1500, but is a GT60. The GT70 on their website isn't in stock and is closer in price to the better GT72.

    PROVANTAGE: MSI 9S7-178111-406 GT72 Dominator-406 Geforce GTX970M -- GT72 with 970m

I would support getting the GT72 a tad bit more because MSI is officially supporting the MXM upgrades of that GPU, and when the 10xxm Nvidia GPUs release you will have the option to upgrade your GT72 to current tech. Remember the GPU usually holds a laptop back long before the CPU. Even a Sandy Bridge second gen i7 would still be fine in the most demanding games today.

This website usually has free shipping, a 30 day return period (or at least they used to have that), and their overnight AM delivery shipping on laptops is a very fair price. I think around $50. Most places charge well over $100 for overnight AM Delivery on anything. I know this because I have a serious impatience issue.

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately, I am quite strapped for cash so a few hundred dollars extra is out of the question, although I do appreciate the suggestions.

So right now, with my i7 4700mq 2.4-3.4ghz, I'm under the impression that I'll have no problems with modern games. Am I wrong in this assumption? I've seen gameplay videos where people are getting 50 frames *while recording* with this processor in modern games. I'm just trying to get a grasp on my position here.

    Thanks again,
    Ace

The CPU doesnt make that much of a difference in the performance, do you happen to know what GPU they were using in the gameplay videos?
As you mentioned you can't go any more in price, but if you wanted to at least look at this models replacement it would be the GT70 Dominator-2293 which has a GTX 970M in it.

They were using a 780m. Their setup was almost identical to the laptop I ordered.

So from what I'm hearing from you guys is that for my dollar amount, I got a good deal with some longevity to it, right?
