I have a GX630 that I just got, I tried to burn a movie on a dvd+r last night and convert x said it completed but it won't play in my standard player. When done in my desktop or ibm T60 they work fine. Any Ideas.. Do I need to flash the drive to something else? Thanks

Use VLC Media player , that thing will play anything.

EDIt : you mean playing it in your standard Home DVD player ?
Some older DVD player won't play Divx etc etc check the manual for playback support.
You can't do anything to change that i'm afraid , best option is to get a new player.

one thing you said is you used dvd+r some + formats require booktype to be set to be played on stand alone players. did you use convert x to burn or else what? what are your settings in convert x?

I used convertX to convert and burn, but I think I am having cd/dvd drive problems, I tried to copy some files I put on a CD-r and it took 2 hours and still didn't finish....

what model burner is in your system, most likely a optiarc but which one. maybe a firmware update could help if not then possibly a bad drive. one thing is with dvd+r you want to set them to dvd-rom if possible. this is either usually in the bitsetting of the burning program. but convert x should have done it for you normally, personally i use dvd-r myself. but both are good and you will get different stories from everyone on which is better. dvd-r just works for me where i have had issues with dvd+r in the past in some players.
