    Hello everyone,

I suddenly noticed that the brightness control doesn't work!
After the windows bootup, the brightness can't be control whatever through hardware key (FN+up and down) or slider inside power plan of win8. The brightness always keep the same.

After google the issue, someone suggest this is windows8 bug.... (????) and AMD chipset bug (no AMD in my 1762!) and actually the brightness can be crank up and down shortly during the blue windows logo screen right before the acutal windows bootup. After the windows bootup, no more control available for the brightness

Do anyone have the same issue, how can I fix it?

    Thanks!

have you done any of the following actions:
flash GT70 EC, flash beta Gt70 EC
flash GT70 bios, GT70 uefi bios
if you did, in which it is confirmed that the EC's will muck up your fn keys, you should go back to the barebones EC by contacting either MSI or seller for the correct EC

Thanks for reply! But the brightness can be crank up and down shortly during the blue windows logo screen right before the acutal windows bootup. Does it still relate to EC/BIOS problem??

    whooops my bad

I should be completely wrong here

have you installed the following and can confirm them running visually
(with the application screen, not just the tray bar icon that does nothing)
    msi KLM
    msi SCM

and can you confirm that you can adjust screen brightness from the power options Capture.PNG

and by the way, Windows 7 FTW!

You said you noticed this "suddenly". Were any software changes made just before it happened (especially any updates)?

Thank you everyone, the issue get sorted out!

It is a EC problem, the control come back after flashing a new EC.

Many thanks for Ken from GentechPC!
