    Hello.

I buyed an MSI G70 Barebone ( not official one ) from a reseller in Germany two years ago.

After two years i decided to update my BIOS and EC of the laptop, firstly i updated the bios and all went fine but after i flashed the Embedded Controller Firmware my laptop got bricked, i see no video output at all.

The reason for this is that i realised ( too late ) that i wrongly flashed the 1763 firmware but my laptop uses 1762 EC firmware.

Now the problem is that the guy that i buyed my PC seems dead and i dont know if i can get any support from him.

So what should i do now to Unbrick the laptop? Since it uses the exact same motherboard of an original MSI product, so they could repair it, can i ask for them? Or they dont provide support/repair on Barebones that they sell cheaper on resellers?

    Thank you

The MSI unbranded Whitebook(barebones) models usually have only a 1 year warranty from the authrized reseller you got the notebook from.

The place you bought it from should be the first place to ask about a repair on an out of warranty notebook bought from them.

If that is a dead end then talking to MSI service directly should be your next option.

Next would be to find a reputable notebook repair shop near where you live.

Next option would be to replace the motherboard yourself.

NBR member majster msi sells MSI parts and he is located in Europe.

No hope to contact my reseller.

    Step 2, msi service says:

    Italy
Address: Via Mario Idiomi, 20-20090 Milano,Italy
    TEL:+39-02-87381665

Calling that number i have no answer, seems a dead telephone number and i wonder why. If i cant call this one who can i call? UK? ....

My only luck is majster msi i guess.

I wonder why the video died flashing the EC.

Is the EC on the same chip with the BIOS? I know if you flash wrongly the bios than your pc dies, but about the EC i dont know...

They are two different SPI chips.
If EC is bricked then the system will not power on at all since the control board is managed by EC.

Than why after flashing the 1763 firmware on my 1762 my laptop died and i have no video output.

The laptop itself boots and stays on. If i press caps or numlock keys the bar lights turn on and off and if i press ctrl+alt+canc the laptop reboots. So the system can ( read ) the keyboard.

FAX the MSI service center or go there in person if no too far.

Ask the telephone operator if the telephone number is in service or changed.
