I just bought this laptop from newegg (MSI 17.3" GT72 Dominator G-1253 )

Can anyone tell me what secondary hard drive I can fit inside? Is it just any 2.5" SATA HD? I read some confusing review on amazon that says:
"Both SATA ports (primary hard drive and disc drive) are SATA 2
Has a space for a secondary 2.5 inch drive but no ports to connect to"
I'm planning to order something like this, can anyone tell me if it would fit:

So I think that you have to choose optical disc drive or 2nd HDD slot unless you try to use the convoluted method referenced by @Galm17 above.Theblackmamba likes this. -
I should clarify,
The version of GT72 I bought ONLY includes one M2 SSD and no existing 2.5" SATA drive. In that instance is it more or less plug and play or is it still a convoluted method? -
Do I just purchase a HD like this:

Or do I need to buy any other extra cables/adapters
Thanks so much for the fast reply -
Already having the HDD installed in my GT72S, I can't say with absolute certainty, but I would presume that the necessary attachments would be included already if I were in the same position (of needing to order an HDD in your situation).

You get one 2.5" port connector. You can swap out the optical drive for another 2.5" drive and is simple to do. The stupid convoluted method as mentioned above is a stupid convoluted method which is just about impossible to do if your unit comes with the new PCIE ports. If it does don't bother doing it. The method above comes with 4 m.2 ports and you have more room to work with, otherwise you have to use the m.2 port next to the drive and you just do not have the room for the connections. Not worth the aggravation. Just buy a m.2 drive instead.
Bought a new GT72, which HD can I buy for secondary storage?
