I have just bought the GS70 765m version with dual mSATA. This is my first time having a premium laptop of this nature and firs ttime with SSD and raid. I am asking for advice on what to expect when this laptop first arrives and what I should do on first power on other than updating drivers and removing bloatware.

    Things I am looking at:

ways to prevent heating. IE new thermal paste or a very portable laptop cooler. The cooler will probably be best as I am not comfortable taking apart a laptop compared to a desktop.

I have heard bad things about the trackpad. Do you have any guidance on how to best optimize it for general use?

As far as the OS is installed. Of the 256g from the hard drives how much is taken up by OS and restore files? Is there a way to reduce it by making a portable restore drive?

Any other suggestions based on your experience that a new user of the laptop might need to know to get the laptop up and running asap?

    Thanks!

Just get something that raises the back of the machine. External fans won't really help.

Thanks for the info. Is there a reason external fans won't help?

Any other tips on my other questions?

    I appreciate the help.
