Just as Leeuniverse I have the exact same issues, I have attempted most of the suggested actions and workarounds to get into the danged BIOS so I can have a chance at updating it with the USB. Unfortunately even the solution that has worked for them is not having any difference on my end so I imagine there's a crucial known step that I am not going through which should properly flash the BIOS and allow me to update it with the E1763IMS.51D update for it.

I used the AFUWINx64.exe through windows Command Prompt, using the saved afuwin.rom on a USB key, but I don't get the same results

 

If you can get into Windows then just run the AFUWIN exe (no need for the command prompt) and point to the E1763IMS.51D file for flashing. The backup afuwin.rom is just a precaution; save it on a usb stick or a portable drive.

If a normal flash is not possible then try to find a stock copy of the same bios version you have now and attempt the recovery option. Afuwin should accept the same-version bios file in this case and it's a lot safer than attempting an upgrade on a partially-crippled bios.

 

When I launch AFUWINx64.exe I get the following screen, and no way to proint to the E1763IMS.51D file for flashing....



(also I just did a CMOS reset : took out the connected battery to the motherboard and let it is sit open for more than 24h. It changed nothing... but atleast I didn't brick my laptop.)

Again I feel like I am missing an important step...

Use the AFUWINGUI.EXE, that's simply a shell calling the x64 command-line tool (GUI = Graphical User Interface). The command line expects you to type in the commands, so 'afuwinx64 E1763IMS.51D' for a simple flash, assuming you've place the bios file in the same directory.

Just to be sure; a cmos battery is a CR2032 type ( button cell). For a proper cmos reset you disconnect the adapter, the regular battery and the cmos battery, hold down the power button for 10-20 seconds and reconnect everything. If system date says 1980-01-01 or something like that then you know the reset was successful.

 

So my CMOS reset was definitely unsuccessful, I did all of the above but did not have a system date that had changed.

As for the AFUWINGUI.EXE, I only get the Information/Setup/Progress tabs open.
I don't exactly see any commands or anything of the sorts. (Maybe I am not understanding you well due to a language barrier.) I've opened the E1763IMS.51D with the AFUWINGUI.EXE which updates the information in Rom File Information:

The ' Flash' button will, of course, flash the new bios version. But first use the ' Save' option; that will dump the current bios to a file, save this or a copy on a usb stick. A just-in-case backup is nice to have.

The ' System information' section shows the current bios and eeprom, while the ' Rom File Information' shows the data from the .51D bios you've loaded. The GUIDs match, so it looks like you have the right file and are good to proceed with the flash.

The tab ' Setup' will give you a few more options which you may want to use in your specific scenario. Mainly, it looks like a partial corruption, so a full reflash might be in order. A normal update only writes those sections that have been changed in the update, but it won't touch the bits that are supposed to have remained the same.

Thank you ever SO MUCH. It happened just like the previous person. I had the same exact error and check on recovery and the PC rebooted with all clear!
