    Black film covering some vents on GX640... remove?

    I noticed that on the removable casing, there is black film on the inside covering up some of the vents by the GPU. Inside, that pad is held onto the case by a white spongy pad... Should that black film be there? I'm thinking it shouldn't because why would there be vent holes otherwise.

    I think I know what you're talking about though, I had a black plastic film covering the GPU vent in my GT627 (similar chassis). I removed it.

    I did it and it dropped my temps by about two or three degrees. Bad design on MSI's part.

    I think it is something to consider removing if you are finding temps to be a tad higher than is comfortable, as for bad design its only purpose would be to keep debres from being sucked into the unit :D
