    Hello,

A little about myself, I'm a high school senior right now and I plan on majoring in Computer Science next year at university. I decided I want an MSI laptop but I'm unsure which one to buy. Right now I'm looking at the MSI G Series GE70 2OE-017US ( Amazon.com: MSI G Series GE70 2OE-017US 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black/Red): Computers & Accessories). The reason I've been so invested in this one is the price is amazing for the amount of hardware it has. This one has the Intel Core i7-4700MQ another one I was looking at had the Intel Core i7-4700HQ which there seems to be almost no difference when I did my research. The HQ is a little bit better built but its basic clock speed is the same as the MQ but once overclocked the HQ wins; so I'm not too worried about. I've heard the good, the bad, and the ugly on my quest to find the best laptop. So I guess my biggest question is what laptop do you think is the best for price? I would prefer to keep the laptop as beefy as possible seeing this will be my main work and gaming rig though college. I really don't want to spend more then 1,500 dollars.

    Thanks,
    Charcoal

The main difference between HQ and MQ is that HQ is soldered to the motherboard and MQ is not, making it upgradeable.

The HQ are used in the newer models with a different GPU. You need to read the specs through carefully when comparing machines.

The HQ also touts additional virtualization and scores slightly better than the MQ in CPU benchmarks.

Ge series are fairly mediocre all around with multiple claims of terrible cooling. I would take a look at the y50 or clevos which are the epitome of bang for buck
