Hello all. I searched through some threads but I guess I didn't come up with the answer I'm hoping for yet and I apologize for a probable repeat thread.

My MSI Laptop is only a couple years old but the 675MX inside seems like it might be dying. It's been acting really shaky lately. I was hoping to upgrade to a newer card but I don't have the time or tools to do a ton of extra modding-style tasks that would be required to install something like a 980 card.

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction where I could buy a card that will fit perfectly into my GT70 without me doing any real work besides a quick 10 minute swap.

    Thanks!

The highest you can upgrade to is 770M.

Ah thanks a lot! Just the info I needed.
I'm looking on the comparison charts (here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...ocessing_units#GeForce_700M_.287xxM.29_Series ) and I'm wondering... the 770M has higher speeds all around, but only has 3 gigs of memory whereas the 675MX has 4 gigs of memory.

Will there be any sort of decreases of any type with the 770M as opposed to replacing with just another equivalent 675MX?

770M is about 20% faster, as the core speed is higher. The amount of memory has no effect on laptop screenmodes.

    Define work?

If you get a .51X bios flashed on the machine, get the heatsink from the latest GT60/70 models:

Then a 980M would be plug and play.

Per MSI, it's recommended to stick with 770M for highest compatibility.

I doubt MSI recommended anything but the original card.

GK104 based PCB (675MX fits in this)

If anything this model has issues getting the 770M to work properly so i'm surprised your recommending it. I seriously suggest you check.

MSI's RMA dept used to upgrade 675MX to 770M for customers possibly due to logistic issue.
Of course, it is going to be somewhat difficult to verify it remotely.
