Curious if anyone owns this laptop and what their thoughts are on it?

On paper, it's perfect for my needs. Thin and lightweight, but with enough power to occasionally game when I travel. I went to Best Buy and everything looked good on it. The trackpad was horrible, very mushy, but the laptop itself seemed a bit beat up so I chalked it up to just a display unit. I'll use a mouse most of the time as it is, so not to worried about that. Screen seemed just ok, do wish it got a bit brighter and more crisp as it's nothing to write home about, but definitely better than the Asus TN panel I used to have. Port selection is great and keyboard felt solid. I was hitting the space bar some while typing, but I suspect I'll get used to it after awhile.

I know the GS65 is out there and similar in size with a better GPU, however I have a desktop I do most of my gaming on, so can't really justify spending 400-500 more. The whole purpose of this laptop would be to replace my Thinkpad with a GTX 940 that I've been using for a few years when I travel.

I did find older threads, but as they were 1-2 months old and mostly talked going GS65, I didn't want to revive them. Apologies if I should have done so.

Idk, it seems to me that u don't really want a GS 65, but instead a business class notebook with a GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 TI. Maybe another lenovo, HP elitebook or so.

More or less true. I was initially going to get a XPS 15 9570, but Dell's QA and the reported issues, especially throttling make me nervous. I skimped on the GPU last purchase, so the figured go for at least 1050ti or 1060.

Which is how I found the BB GS63. Has the 8750 and 1060. Only thing that worries me is that I've bought BB exclusive laptops before and found them to be lower quality. I didn't necessarily see that when looking at it, but wasn't 100% sold. $1500 is a lot of money.

thin and light with a 8750h will always throttle, it's powerlimited to 45W while the CPU needs ~70-90Watts to run at full turbo.

Probably should have caveated that I'm not more or less not worried about throttling as my day to day use probably would not experience it and that when I do use it for intensive tasks, such as gaming, will be kept to a minimum (maybe a few hours in a hotel or parents house).

I was bringing up the throttling due to Dell knowing about it for two years and not addressing it. Mix that with their poor QA and having to play silicon lottery on getting a decent machine, doesn't give me hope for the XPS.

But back to the GS63, everything on paper seems to be ok. The panel I know is bottom of the barrel as far as IPS goes, read it has a LG Display LP156WF6-SPK6. Looks like they used last gen chassis and just threw in a 8750, keeping most everything else (besides the screen) the same.

Similar to Dell and their quality, I worry about it being a Best Buy exclusive. I'm not the biggest fan of Best Buy and usually go out of my way to avoid them, but with tax free weekend coming up soon and the decent price tag on it, trying to determine if it's worth pulling the trigger on.
