Hi all,
I recently picked up a GS70 (although unbranded) off of a well known auction site for what I thought was a reasonable price for the hardware and have a few questions I've been unable to answer using the tinternet, therefore thought I'd come and ask the experts!![]()
The model spec I have is as follows:
I have found the machine to be very powerful and capable of handling all the games I've thrown at it sofar, i.e. Tomb Raider, Skyrim, LotRO, WoT, CS:GO etc. However I'm not sure it's due to the machine being unbranded (i.e. no MSI, Dynaudio, SteelSeries logos) but I can't seem to get SteelSeries Engine 3 to recognise my keyboard.....
- Windows 10 Home 64Bit
- 17.3 Display
- i7 Haswell CPU
- 16GB DDR3
- GeForce GTX 970M GPU
- 120GB SSD & 1TB SSHD
- Black
Are there some specific drivers that I'm missing, or is it user error (most likely!)?
Appreciate any tips.

What color does your keyboard currently light up? If its white it could not be a steel series keyboard.

Okay thats also possible that its not a steelseries. My MSI gt60 lit up blue and did not have it, I'm not sure what u can do besides download the steelseries engine.

Unbranded = Barebone version, which does not have some premium features such as SSE keyboard, and premium audio software support.

In Europe, the famous company that sells these is called Eurocom.randomeclipse likes this. -
I'll have to settle for the blue only then and take the hit for paying a good price for the laptop.
Cheers. -

I'm now wondering what other functionality may be missing - if the RBG element definitely is.
Hmm... -
