There's no switchable graphics on the gt683r, and yes you should be able to get 2 hours of battery life under light load. Hope this helped.

Are you sure? I saw this quote

I see you have the laptop, so I'm not trying to say you're wrong or anything, just wondering why there are quotes saying it has it.

All of Nvidia's 500 series of gpu's are built with optimus switchable graphics your right but its up to the notebook manufacturer whether to enable it. The only Gtx 560 notebook I know with optimus enabled is the Toshiba.

Alright, which Toshiba would that be?

Also is 2 hours the max battery life or do you think it can get more than that?

    Thanks.

EDIT: I found the Toshiba, it's 17 inches, i'm looking for a 15.6 or lower.

    toshiba qosmio

There's different variations, the one linked is a 17 inch model. There's most likely more with optimus I'm just not aware of. I haven't really checked battery life but I would guess 3 hours depending on load.

Alright, thanks a lot. I am going to be going to college, and will mostly be plugged in, but if I happen to be in a class where I can not be plugged in, I would like a laptop that can last me the entire class without dieing. The 683R seems like it would be a good choice, especially since I am a big gamer.

I bought a GX680 yesterday assuming with the GT555M it would have Optimus, but no such luck. So now I am trying to return the laptop which an employee told me I could return if I wasnt happy with it, and now they want a restocking fee. I have found several issues with the laptop I am not super happpy about so its not like I am being a whiner. Plus the seller misrepresented the price and didnt give out all the system specs. Its a crappy business.
