This is the only forum dedicated to laptops with a sizable amount of users who don't seem like r'tards. I've been looking everywhere, and although there's tons of great ads, cannot find a single user review on how well an MSI installed backlit SteelSeries keyboard works. How do they handle? Does it feel sturdy? Are they loud to type on? Do some LEDs burn out over time? Any common keys breaking or getting stuck? How do they handle after months of use?

I'd love all the info you guys can give me, ty so much.

There have been problems reported. Some people had faulty keyboards, and many people report poor touch-typing performance.

I just want to make sure we're on the same page, we're talking about this keyboard right here right?

How Steelseries keyboard works on msi gaming notebook?

I can't find any reviews at all, just some ads that claim its greatness. I was unaware that Sager shipped this same re-designed one. Could anybody else give their personal experience, or experiences of friends? Thanks a bunch :D

This topic seems to get raised fairly regularly in:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/658595-official-msi-gt60-gt70-owners-lounge.html

    Dedicated threads include:

My own personal experiences are documented in the above threads, and if you spend some time searching these forums you will probably find many more comments by other users.

Thanks trohright, I read every page and did find some useful info, but I'd still like to hear your point of view after you'd had this time to digest your experience, and also it appears that there are (at least) 2 different back lit steel series keyboard, but nobody is posting which they are complaining about.

I bought a GT70 a month ago. I love the SteelSeries keyboard. I haven't had any issues with it. I am a touch typist and haven't had any issues with the keyboard. Just wanted to chime in with my opinion.

Wonderful, I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks a lot for the opinion Markus :D

By the way, on your keyboard, does your spacebars backlight go all the way across, or is it 2 separate light spots?

I'll have to check tonight for you. From memory, it is 2 lights. I'll confirm.

Two separate lights on mine, and I do experience problems with missed keystrokes.

I've got 2 lights on mine. I don't think I've had a dropped keystroke yet. Am I in the norm, or did I just get lucky I wonder?

Guys, if you are having keystrokes problemssend claim your warranty. I made MSI Mexico change it for a new one and now I'm working/playing like I should have been doing it since the day I received my GT70.

This is great info to have, thanks a ton for the replies! Orta, does yours have the solid stripe across the spacebar, or 2 separate backlight bars?

All have 2 stripes on the spacebar. The long one was an old design the was changed before getting into production; so you wont find any keyboard with it.
