Does anyone on here use a 64bit os like Windows Xp 64 or Vista 64, and have it work succesfully? Vista loads the correct video drivers by searching the web for them but all the other ones for wireless card etc.. cant be used unless you let windows go look for them. Windows Xp 64 doesnt seem to be able to load any drivers for the video, audio, wirless etc..

just a heads up, all official MSI 1029 parts have x64 drivers out. if you goto msi's site, there will be a link to download the xp64 drivers for the laptop from the 1029 page. its about a 48MB rar, that also includes the latest ati mobility drivers as well. All for xp64.

I got screwed over though as I ordered an Intel 2915 card to go with mine, and intel put out 64bit drivers for linux, but no windows xp 64 drivers for it. Will be ordering the MSI card within the next day or so. A shame too as that card really worked nice.

While we're on this topic, has anyone been able to download the windows 64 bit trial? I've been trying to but MS's site keeps telling me that a product key can't be recuperated at the moment...

Ok, I was able to confirm the order, but the trial is not 360 days as I thought, it's 180 days :(

The MSI 270 and the MSI 1013 are the same. S270 is preconfigured while the 1013 is sold as whitebooks\barebones.

I just decided against installing Win 64. True, the OS will run faster, but you can't upgrade, you have to reinstall, plus, not so many actual apps will natively support 64 bits.

Add to that compatibility problems (trust me, they will be there) and the fact that it will only run for six months, and for me at least, it's simply not worth it.

    180 days.... try 120 days.
Does any one know if you like it, you can just buy it and "upgrade" to full?

I've been running XP64 on my 1013 for over a year, runs very well, very few problems.
