    Anyone has/had MSI GX640/GT640 Laptop?

    Hi everyone!
    I know this is old news and this laptop isnt anything new but funny enough i have only discovered this laptop not long and really like how it looks, however i have very little knowledge of this laptop. By the look of specs it wont be able to run anything heavy demanding nowadays but thats not what i am after anyway, i am wondering with specs like Q720 and HD5850 would it be able to run some of the modern games on low graphics at smooth fps? As i saved a ebay search alert in case someone lists it but not too sure if its worth the effort finding this laptop if it will turn out to be really bad for modern day use.

    I own the GT640 with the GTS 250m. It won't play most modern titles but anything below 2011, is OK. The thing to look out for is finding replacement parts when needed because I haven't been able to find a new fan for mine. And the unit gets hot with the i7-720QM, even after a repaste. And you'll reach a cap of 8GB memory. Mine has 1680x1050, but glossy. And a rather dim CCFL.

    From experience, it ran Windows 10 Pro OK. At least the luxury of being able to swap out GPU relatively easily is nice. If anything smooth and low settings, it could theoretically run, it's just the heat to worry about.

    Thank you very much for the reply and i am thrilled to see there are still enthusiasts out there that own these classic relics. I never owned the 640 or even 620 series myself because as you pointed out ive read a lot of user reviews back in the day that it had serious heat issues, ive seen videos where laptop shuts off during middle of the game and decided to put this on hold. However years later i couldnt find any of them on ebay at all, as if they were erased from history but i did find a GX620 and planning to stick a GX640 motherboard with all the parts inside. Im hoping to create a simple but most important (durable) laptop that will run some of the modern games at least on med low graphics/resolution. Which is where i would like to ask does yours run games like TF2 or GTA V on at least low options just to compare it with few titles.
