Hi there I have the european MSI GX740 with the i5-450m and after numerous searches and questions at local retailers I cannot seem to find anyone that can give me an answer to the following questions so I was hoping somebody here would be kind enough to maybe answer my questions and point me in the right direction.

I was looking to upgrade my ram so the first question would be what would be the best ram I could get that would be compatible with this laptop and how easy would it be to upgrade it? and how much of it could I actually put in this laptop?

The second would be what would be the best hard drive upgrade I could get what would be compatible and how easy would that be to replace the old one with

And the third and probably most complicated from experience is is it possible to upgrade to the i7 and where would I look for this particular chip and is their any processor upgrade guides as I have not really dabbled in putting in a new processor before so im coming at this as a complete newbie.

I understand there are quite a few questions but any answers would be really appreciated and links or names of the exact products I should get, Im based in the united kingdom so I would be looking to buy parts from over here if possible.

Once again thanks for any help you guys can give on this matter.

you can upgrade ram to 8gb ddr3 you can buy it of ebuyer
any hdd ssd 2.5" will work ebuyer
I7 will work too just see what socket you have got and buy of ebay new cpu if you want to replace it ebay
check from spec what pci slot had graphic card im sure it is 3.0 so any 3.0 card you buy of ebay should work in your laptop.

    here is i7-720qm
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Cor...58?pt=CPUs&hash=item519b824ca6#ht_1215wt_1112

any i7 socket PGA988 will fit in your lappy

if your current graphic card is GPU MXM 3.0 Type B then you can buy of ebay ati 6990 but not sure if you would need to make a new heatsink

anyway if you do gaming i dont think you should replace anything at all. dont waste your money. rather save for next year ivy bridge laptop and ddr4
