Let me preface this by saying that this is an informative post for those who are new to MSI Gaming laptops, who are interested to see what kind of software MSI includes, or just those who have had a MSI gaming laptop, but never known about this magnificent application. :D

Dragon Gaming Center is a nifty tool to set a bunch of settings that are available on the G series MSI Notebooks

The first thing that you see when you launch the Dragon Gaming Center is the System Monitor screen:

It does pretty much what the name says – it gives you system parameters in real-time, such CPU load, RAM use, battery status, etc. You can also switch SHIFT profiles and monitor your temperatures and network usage.

Screen 2 is the Utility screen – from here, you can launch applications, with the ones you see in the screenshot are preset. In addition to these, you can add your own applications.

Instant Play comes with four tabs – the first one is ”Instant Play”. Here you can assign the P1 key shortcut to launch a specific application or game.

Tab 2 is Display & Audio, where you can adjust speaker volume and microphone levels, as well as display brightness and gamma.

Tab 3 is Mouse – you can set pointer speed, double-click speed and scrolling properties.

The last Instant Play tab is Resource Release where you can choose which applications will be automatically closed when you launch your preset game with the P1 key combo.

Lastly, Device Setting comes with the possibility to turn on/off the Windows key on the keyboard, and enabling/disabling the high performance profile. Finally, you can once more choose SHIFT modes.

Hey MSI I have a question about your "High Performance" setting, What is the difference in setting you comp to Sport shift mode solely, and then adding in Performance mode? Does the performance mode provide a small overclock?

I checked the settings for "high performanc" which is basically high performance in Windows 8 battery mode. The main difference is power management over PCI Express and allowing the CPU to set adaptive frequency instead of 100% all the time. I don't know if there are more differences.

Hi, I need some help. I have the gaming center downloaded and everything works fine except I don't see the shift mode in it. My FN+F7 (which is supposed to be shift mode) doesn't change modes, is there a fix to this? Thanks!

You must enable SCM (System Control Center) at windows startup, i've had this issue when i disabled SCM.

Thank you, how would I enable it at start up? Where would I need to go and click?

open task manager > startup tab and look for SCM > right-click, set it to enable then restart. if there's no SCM, probably it's not installed yet.

Oh god MSI... This program looks awful, why there is no way to disable that RED skin, and make the program with minimalist and functional beauty

Haha, it's not supposed to be a program you use/view continuously etc. They probably designed it with the "extreme dragon!" idea heh. Maybe in future iterations they will put a cleaner look. It could certainly use a face lift that is more down to earth.

I'm also interested if it works in Windows 7. I'd also love to see the SHIFT feature integrated with SteelSeries Engine functionality. For example having the keyboard backlighting color change according to the SHIFT mode. Pointless, I know, but I'd like it :)

You can try directly from the support page for one of the latest notebooks. I can find the program under utility in the GT80 section.

Am I the only one that have problem with dragon center? Mine is very buggy, some fields were blanks so I repaired the prog to a previous state. Now it's working fine (with SCM that was not working at all since the beginning) but the boot time of my GT72 2QE has increased a lot, looks like it's taking 30s just to start these particular program...

Dragon center does use SCM so if your SCM is not working, your Dragon center will be borked.

I recenty updated my SCM and Dragon center and they work perfectly. The trick was to uninstall and reinstall the new one, each independently. First SCM and then dragon center. Maybe you can try it?

Shift technology is an easy, push button setting to limit or release full performance of your system in case you don't want to mess with anything at all. But max performance is not really different than using high performance present and just tweak away your settings.

I used the dragon application for a while but after upgrading to windows 10 I haven't installed it and honestly I don't need it, but it is very convenient for users that don't know much about power settings etc. Some people don't need the full performance of the machine and it is much faster to put it in eco mode or something :)

I think I have to disagree because when I have windows high performance on the fans doesn't go so much insane as when I have enabled sport .. when is sport fans get so loud, thinking the laptop's gonna fly up :D

Hi I recently bought an MSI GP72
I have noticed my fan 2 is always on 0 RPM.
Do I only have 1 fan?
    Or is fan 2 faulty?
I see in the screenshot here that fan 2 is working. I dunno what I can do to find out if it's working or not.
    Any help?

Thanks for that ☺. Helped me out.
Do you think I should look into laptop cooling pads? Temperatures get high quickly on this laptop. I dont want to keep using the fan boost button and give it a premature end.

Hi, Got a problem in my Dragon gaming center.

I'm playing right now Blade and Soul NA/EU and my problem is i cannot manage to put the game in Dragon gaming center in the "instant play section".

Do you have idea how to configure this matter.

Already try to locate the executible file but getting an error.

Can we please check and work in this matter.

I have a MSI 2QF Leopard Pro with Dragon Gaming Center.

@Soulalis - You can find it under "Utility" in the support page for your specific model (same support page where you can find the drivers and BIOS/firmware downloads).

The reason why I asked was because I don't have that software. I don't have the original hard drive that came with the computer. He gave me a different one so I need to download it myself. I'm having problems with the computer crashing on me and most likely over heating and I can't really tell unless I have some program like this.

That's fine. I believe you can download the original MSI recovery tool for your model as well. It should all be there on the same support page, I just can't link you because I don't know your model.
