I have an MSI GE65 Raider model 431. Just curious if there's an alternate, higher capacity battery, either GE65 specific or from another model that is a drop-in replacement.
Thanks

I would be kind of surprised if there is. The space occupied by the battery doesn't have any room for more cells and I am not aware of a way to add capacity other than that.

Well, the cells themselves would need to be of higher capacity.
If one could find a battery that had the same physical size of cells, just more capacity of each cell, you could replace the original cells with those. -

The battery chemistry for consumers is already at peak usage and has not had any major improvement for awhile. It would be difficult to see any major changes over existing design until a new technology gets released.

The highest capacity cells in 18650 format have 3500mAh each, but have a low max discharge current, in the 2-3A ballpark, to have higher(10-30A) discharge current you need to use cells that have at most 3000mAh, 2*3000mAh = 6Ah(due to cell configuration), if they are configured in 2S3P, the working voltage will be 3*4.2 = 12.6, giving a max theoretical 12.6*6 = 75.6Wh, but thats with max cell voltage, nominal LiPO cell voltage is 3.7V, this means 6Ah*(3x3.7) = 66.6Wh, thats the most you can expect if they where using 3000mAh cells, most likelly they are using 2500mAh cells (or a bit less).
Yes, there is margin to gain some battery capacity, not much, but still a bit.
Alternate Battery Available?
