    Hi all,

I wondering an interesting question. I bought on Ebay a Radeon 7970m for Clevo P150HM/151HM (ENDURO Disabled) to my MSI GX640 notebook. Because of the high power of VGA I bought a 180W ac adapter, and with it works fine. I've fully unlocked my bios, so I can set up every settings about my laptop. Everything works fine, the heatsink has been set to my new card. The VGA port works fine too. My problem starts when I would like to use the HDMI port. When I plug in my HDTV, the screen is working fine in the post menu (and bios as well) and during the booting windows. But when the welcome screen appears, the HDMI disappear. I check every settings in the modded bios and about the Ati Catalyst driver as well, but I haven't find any solution yet. Note, the HDMI suddenly appear when I remove all the Catalyst driver from my Windows.

Anyone knows any solution for this problem? Thank you, I'm looking forward for the answers.

Did you update the chipset driver and Intel driver? I believe HDMI output is controlled by the CPU.

Did you mod the system board BIOS or the vBIOS (or both)?

Try using an Alienware vBIOS. With Clevo vBIOS, HDMI works only in P150EM/P170EM, but not in older machines, like P150HM/P170HM. Unfortunately I don't use HDMI, so I haven't tested my 7970M for it, but I had the same problem, when I had 6970M in my GX740. With a Clevo vBIOS the laptop's HDMI didn't work, with Alienware vBIOS (M17xR3) it worked.

Thank you I've already solved the problem. My old vBIOS was the alienware and the new Clevo vBIOS HDMI works perfectly :)

So it was vBIOS related. Same thing as in my case, but the other way around :) Good that You've found the solution. Enjoy the card! :)

    Hey tomcsi8.

How did you fix your cooling solution to accommodate 100W card?

Cooling mods usually involve adding small RAM heatsinks to the heatpipe, as well as thermal tape.

Marecki_clf may be able to provide screenshots of his modded cooling solution. ;)
