Ok, so I have been planning on purchasing a gaming laptop for a while though I do not game much.....weird....yes I know but I'm interested in playing Skyrim since I loved Oblivion...I originaly was going to spend a little over $2400 on a sager when I realized I think thats over doing it, so I found this:

    MSI GT683R-242US
    Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz)
    15.6"
    12GB Memory
    1TB HDD 7200rpm (2x500)
    DVD Super Multi
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 1.5

    Priced around $1000

    Questions:
Would this set up be sufficient?
How good is MSI (buil quality)?
Can I upgrade anything in it?
    How good is the processor?
Is the graphics card good enough for me to hook it up to a 46 inch tv?
And the only things missing that I wanted was a blu-ray drive (I own an external but would like it buil in) and a better graphics card; should I hold out for a couple months in hopes of price drops?

I think for the price $1000 its good....what do you think?

Thank you so much for your help!

I play BF3 on my unit with no issues, but for about $ 300 more you can get the same unit with the 570m GPU.

Build quality is decent, and the 683 is easly upgraded should you want to change Wifi card, memory, Drives, CPU or GPU later.

The CD drive can be upgraded, and is easily removed.

You can't beat the price thats for sure.

I never had mine hooked up to my TV so can't speak to that other than depends on the native resolution of the TV and what your trying to do, I suspect you would be OK.

Just for the record, and to also recommend the GTX570m, with the XDR laptop you should be able to play Skyrim at 1920x1080 res high settings comfortably with good enough fps.

I do so with my HD5870m which is weaker than the GTX570m.

Thanks for the additional input! Do you guys forsee any pricedrops relatively soon or do you think $1350 is aprice to jump on for the XDR 570M. I can wait a month if need be since I don't need it right now, but I do notice everyone else is selling the same laptop for $1500+. Today is the last day with the rebate.

I say go for it. I would. It's a great price and the real next gen GPUs which won't be a huge increase in performance, will probably arrive until another 4 or 6 months.

I say pull the trigger, good deal.
