I ordered the Advent 8555 from Currys last week, on their website it looked exactly like a 7555 but with Windows 7, a bigger hard drive and the graphics card named as an ATI M98 (512MB).

Given that the manufacturer code for 4850 is M98 I saw no problem ordering the comp.

However, when it came a sticker on the box named the graphics card as a ATI 4670 (1GB).

After calling them it's apparent that they have know idea which spec is correct and have promissed to ring be back in 48 hours.

A waring to all those considering the 8555!!

I would boot it and check but according to the terms and conditions and the help line, as soon as I boot it I can't return it!!

I'm sure that's illegal somehow but I'm not up for a fight to get my money back, if it stays in the box I have 28 days to return it without quibble.

    Whered you get it from?

PCWORLD had it so that if you didnt like the machine before 7 days then you could return it,

What size machine is it, 15 or 17 inch?

Tiz quite bizarrre if you ask me, when did they swap out to 46**?

Got it from Currys so same people as PCWorld. In the small print of the terms and conditions it says you can return it with seven days even if the box is open as long as it is in the same condition and hasn't been used.

The label saying 4670 may be wrong and the 4850 might be in there but it's weird that it also says 1GB not 512MB. It's a 17". It's strange because MSI don't do a 17" with 4670 so I'm hoping it's a label problem, not a comp one.

Well they are updating the previos 6555...7555 and now 8555, but msi also introduced 1gb 4850s so you may be lucky to have a 1gb model of the card, prehaps even bumped up res.

That would be a great result but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW Thanks Cobra for letting me know the code of the 4670.
