    Hello everyone!

I am currently helping someone shop for a powerful workstation / laptop - ideally 17.3" but 15.6" will do just fine. However, he would like a 4K panel ideally as well... he will be doing a LOT of CAD work. Keep the budget under $3000 ideally. From what I researched the MSI's offer the best workstations...

    I suggested these notebooks:

These are ones I suggested without 4k panels but are over $3000:

This is the odd ASUS out :) :

I would suggest finding out what software he is going to use and what its requirements are. The first three links have Quadro cards which are great for workstation software. The 4th link has 2x 980M. Most workstation software does not take advantage of dual video cards, again check the specific software. Your Asus link has a GeForce instead of a Quadro. It will still get the job done, but GeForce are more for gaming vs Quadro for workstation.

You could also look at a Clevo laptop. It would probably be a bit cheaper. A Sager NP9752 can be configured to have a quadro card and it would have a desktop cpu.

This is just for the MSI part.
If he has needs to work with CAD software, then WT series are highly recommended due to higher floating point processing. For the rest of processing power needs stick to GT70 or GT80.

Other brands, as mentioned by others previously, can be considered if interested.
