    I purchased a new GT780DX-277US
    I have a few questions:

1-I want to install a new SSD HD. I am a bit intimidated by the idea of opening up a laptop. Will i waive the warranty? Are there tutorials for how to proceed with this model to install the new hard drive and I believe I remember reading that you need some little pegs or something to hold the hard drive in place so it does not move around....What are those called and are they usually only available through MSI? (cant find the post i had read about this before)

2-I have the steeelseries keyboard. I noticed that sometimes the color for the right side of the keyboard changes on its own. IE: I put the left and middle to dark red and the right side to Dark green...the next time I open the laptop the dark green is now lighter green. Is that a known issue that anyone else noticed and is there an easy fix? I figured maybe im the one doing something wrong but perhaps its a known software glitch.

    thanks,

    Hello Kezzy123-

Replacing the hard drive will not void your warranty, but you just want to be careful in there. There is two small rubber stoppers(brackets) that can be ordered from MSI that hold the hard drives in place.

I have not heard of the Steel Series acting that way, you may want to update or reinstall drivers and see if that makes a difference.

    Thank you sir,

Would you happen to have a link on their website where to find these brackets? Im having a hard time finding any kind of specific parts, seems like its more computers or specific hardware they have for sale.

I think I had seen a post about the Force 1671 not having any brackets for the secondary bay. I sort of assumed it was the same with this one. I found nothing in manual about it...heck there was barely any info confirming there was actually 2 bays for hard drives in this laptop hehe.
I submitted a report through MSI and am awaiting their answer.

The secondary HDD uses a rubber block to hold the drive in place, the primary a metal bracket. You can also use the metal bracket in the secondary bay. We have both the rubber block and the metal bracket available if you need. If you contact msi they may send you a rubber block for the secondary bay.

Upgrading the hard drive is a piece of cake...simply unscrew the plastic cover on the underwise of the laptop...pop the cover off and both hard drives will be staring you in the face...my primary bay has a metal bracket and my secondary a rubber stopper..I had to order the stopper from Xotic though because they forgot to add it the first time around...I cannot imagine it should cost much no matter where you get it ...it is literally a little half inch piece of solid rubber....the rest is intuitive...slide the old drive out..slide the new drive in...you're done!
