    Hey!

I just bought this laptop and im very excited about the power!

but thats my first msi yet so i have a few questions:

    1) Im trying to check if i get sound from all 4 speakers but it seems only the top ones give sounds and not the lower ones. I think i just dident enable something is there a way to check it?

    2) is the 770m a good graphic card? i noticed that they have the same laptop with the 780m.

    3) If i want to overclock my 770m with msi afterburner how much will i need to raise the core and memory clocks in order to get it to the performances of the 780m? if its even possible.

    4) And finally, when playing games. how do i know when to turn on the super cooling option that is making a loud sound? if i dont turn it on and the laptop gets too hut will it turn on by itself? I just dont know how hot it gets while i game (it seems cool near the pad and games like splinter cell runs perfect with everything max) thank you!

    1. Was under the impression that it was 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer, this is what is listed on the MSI website. What you are referring to as the lower ones, I believe are only ventilation holes

2/3. From a strictly technical perspective, the 770M has 33% less of everything compared to the 780M (or the 780M has 50% more). You would have to raise the core clock correspondingly by that much in order to match the performance of the 780M. However, on the memory front it has a 192bit bus, which would mean something along the lines of a 70% overclock in order to get the same numbers.

That being said, I'm not familiar with real game numbers, which isn't always a direct match with the technical specs.

    Ooh, I guess I missed 4

    4. When to turn it on depends on how high you're willing to let the machine run. As far as I know, the GT60 will never engage 100% fan speed, which means that letting it run on automatic will inevitably always run hotter than turning on the jet turbine.

To figure out how hot you're running use something like CPUID HWMonitor, which has a current/minimum/maximum logging function.

Play the game for a short while, tab out and check the maximum values. If they're too high, then enable the Superfan, reset the meter and play another short stint. When you check the values, be sure to look at the THRM (CPU) and the TMPIN0 (GPU) values - these two are the ones MSI uses to gauge how to set the fan speed (for those using custom fan profiles, this correspondingly refers to Set 1 and Set 2, so you can fine tune your setup).

Here the GTX770M has the advantage of generating less heat because it draws less power. While say, 95C is within the thermal tolerance of the CPU and GPU (unless Intel and Nvidia changed their thermal limits for their mobile parts in the last 4 years or so, it should be about 105C), realistically you'll want that to be 85 or less. Personally I like to keep it under 80.
