Okay i finnally got my gt725 heatsink after a long time of looking. So i decided to put my 4850 in and put the heatsink. Now i can see the lights on the bottom of the monitor light up but i dont see the bios whatsoever on anything. i have tried multiple times reseating and putting on. But only my 9600m gt works on this laptop. I have no idea what to do im thinking about putting it back again tomorrow and try to set it up as nicly as possible. Anyone have any ideas what im doing wrong or what should i do?

edit: worked perfectly fine with my gx620.. but not on the gx720.

Update both the BIOS and EC/VGA firmware to the recent ones for the GT725.

Just copy the bios and firmware files to your bootable flash and run *.bat files. It's so simple :)
By the way - I'm using the original BIOS and EC for GX720 and I have no problems with my 4850.

Did you take out the CMOS battery when you did the swap?

okay so theres a black wire that is near the wifi card and video card that i pull out so the 4850 can fit and then i put it back. i havent updated the bios yet. but after i turn the comp the 4850 and the heatsink are really hot after like 10 seconds of the laptop being on which means im probably putting it on wrong.

edit: just updated bios and still nothing dont see the bios or anything when plugging in my 4850.

I've heard about that happening to people in the acer forum when they tried to upgrade.

Maybe if you update or change the vBIOS you might get some different results?

Yes the video bios, maybe you could flash the vbios from the msi version?

I don't know if it will be possible to blind flash the original vbios if the flash goes bad.

well moral thanks for the idea but ima see if cleaning it will help. If that doesnt work and still only shows thru external monitor i might just have to sell it and look for an msi 4850 or another video card. :(
