    Hi All,

I am looking at upgrading the RAM in my recently purcahse GT70 0NE from 16GB to 32GB. Since it can take this much RAM, i can easily use the extra RAM for my work (scientific image analysis and modeling).

I have had a look around and there does;t seem to be that great a range availble in 8GB SO-DIMMS. They all seem to be lower speced CAS11 or more if you want to get 1600mhz RAM. Although after running CPU-Z on my system i noticed that the current RAM, whicle 1600MHz, is CL11as well.

Does anyone have any recomendation on higher end RAM they know of that comes in 8GB sticks? Everything i find that has decent specs is in 4GB or lower sticks.

    Thanks

Ahhh cool, thanks. Does the CAS Latency really matter much anymore. I got the impression that it doesn't really affect things much any more but i woudl still rather have the fastest RAM i can get for what i plan to do with it.

Ok good to know. I will order in some RAM then.

One other question. I just looked under the notebook for the usual RAM replacement flap and there isn't one. So i am assuming that you take off the whole bottom panel to access the RAM?

Two of the slots are here, once you open up the bottom: 2012-09-09_1933 - bergmbe's library

The other two are under the keyboard, under black flaps shown here: 2012-09-09_1937 - bergmbe's library

This video shows you how to easily get the keyboard out: Tutorial: Instructions To Change Keyboard on MSI GT70 Laptop (GT60, GT780, GT783 Similar) - YouTube

I'm not 100% sure that the second two ram slots are under that keyboard, but I'm about 90% sure. I don't actually own a GT70, but it's fairly standard practice to put two under the keyboard and two on the bottom.

That is correct, the GT70 RAM locations are going to be the same as the GT60, GT780/GX780/GT783, etc. MSI was nice enough and smart enough to leave "well enough" alone in the design.

Did you upgrade your O.S.? Windows 7 Home Premium can show only 16GB, you need to upgrade your O.S. to Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate 64 bits.

    Good Luck!
