Hey guys, i love this site, i did a lot of research here and bought my very first gaming laptop back in december based on all the info i got here.. its a gt70 494ONC msi with a 670mx

anyways, now i'm a supa-game-nerd and want to get more power from my video card so i've gotten into overclocking so i can always get 60fps at 1080p. i want more airflow to cool the card down more.

right now my 670mx never goes past 69 degree's playing @ 1080p. when i use msi afterburner and boost the gpu +135mz and memory +700mhz i get 74 degree's and about 20% fps gain. with turbo fan the degree's are 50 degree's stock and 55 degree's overclocked.

so on to my 2 questions.
    1. where can i get a replacement back panel (the plastic part that covers mobo on bottom of lappy) so i can mod it to have more airflow. i've looked everywhere and i can't find msi case parts anywhere.

    2. i found out that you can overclock the 670mx to gpu clock 1000mhz with a gpu bios switch. does a gpu bios switch void warranty? i read about overclockging the badboy here GTX 670MX Overclocking [Updated-custom BIOS file] . the asus requires a system bios change which will void warranty, they dont' explain changing the gpu bios doing the same.
i would ask at thier forum, but i trust you guys more.

also, I game for 2 hours a night and on weekends i game for about 5-6 hours straight. will playing an overclocked card for that amount of time kill a gpu? i plan on monitoring temps and keeping them below 85 degree's at all times and i won't be doing any volt mods cuz that just scarry to me. also i plan on running the turbo fan all the time too if i overclock this card.

thanx in advance for any help.

Hey liddokun, glad the NBR community has been of some help to you. :)

    1. MSI does not sell parts a la carte. You can try getting in touch with some of the resellers to see if they have spare parts, as well as eBay sellers and any online or local parts vendors.

    2. Typically, only physical damage of some sort voids warranty coverage. You can peruse through MSI's warranty stipulations here to be sure though before you attempt anything and risk bricking your card.

The amount of time won't matter so much as will the temperatures you hit. Some people are under the impression too that you shouldn't shut down the system frequently. I'm not exactly sure as to where or why people have been lead to think that, other than the possibility of chip creep.
