    Hey guys

I was referred here by a friend. I am looking buying a 1651 barebone from OC today but before I do I have a cpu compatibility question for you mods who know exactly what I am asking.

The msi barebone 1651 has a p45m mobile chipset and uses socket p processors. The processor I want to put in is the T5750 65nm socket p processor. Will this processor work in this notebook?

My understanding is they will work. However, intel changed the temp sensor so tempurature will not be reported correctly.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=347654

There's already a thread on this and people have listed the CPUs they've gotten to work. I've personally gotten the T5750 to work and I believe the T5270 is in the same boat. I've also gotten a T7500 to work, I'm actually typing this up on the computer.

Not like the mods have special knowledge limited to only themselves. When someone says that they have tried it and it works just take it at that.

Santa Rosa chips/CPUs will work in the 1651 or any Centrino 2/Montevina chipset, but Montevina chips won't work in Santa Rosa chipsets.

thanks so I am assuming that the 5750 is a santa rosa chip and the 1651 is a monteva chipset?

    That is correct.

The T5s and T7s are all Meroms.

    To get a Penryn you need T6, T8, T9, P8, or P9
