A lot of people have been wondering about why there's no 15.6 inch 980M notebook from MSI yet. Behold! I just stumbled across this while browsing their website.

    MSI GT60 2QE Dominator Pro

Yeah, I know, it's technically just a spec update as the chassis is the same, but I see a lot of people wondering why MSI has been holding back.

Hmm the fact that they put a 980m into the gt60 may mean that the rumoured gt62 will not be coming out anytime soon, and msi is making do with a "top spec" 16inch product.

Seems that way to me too. Less R&D on their part, and makes sense with the The GE62 taking the low end now.

The only thing that I'm wondering about is why they're offering a version with a 970M, seeing as how the GE62 2QE will also have one. I guess it makes sense though, as it could be an option for someone who wants an upgradeable 15.6" laptop and wants something cheaper than the top of the line, or maybe someone who wants the extra cooling,

Seems to me that the GE62/72 are only getting the cheaper versions of the cards with 2 or 3GB of RAM. That may be a differentiator. Won't be a big deal to some, but those that want it all are going to have to go to the GT60 then.
